The VV model includes weekly delivery of produce shares to convenient locations within lower-income and underserved communities. We recommend that our partner markets:
Set-up a mobile market for approximately 2 hours
Sell bundles or shares (alone or in addition to a market-style model) and offer incentives to customers for purchasing them
Operate year-round (or at minimum 10 months per year)
Accept cash, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) electronic benefits (EBT), and credit/debit cards.
We have found through our research that it is very important that food be high quality and not be perceived as leftovers or seconds. For that reason, we recommend mobile markets partner with local farmers and distributors to source the freshest food possible. We recognize that other (non-local) food sources may be necessary to meet cultural needs or provide variety during the off-season.
